GETTING ALONG WITH PEOPLE

-prov 11:30, 2 cor 3, luk 10
-our life is our walking 'bible'
-leaders are people who muster the art of relationship.

1) COMMUNICATION is the key of life.
-relationship ceases when communication ceases.
-we have 2 ears and 1 mouth -> be slow to speak, dont interrupt; dont let someone say 1 line and u say hundreds of lines!
-speak in sentences, not paragraphs!
-communication starts when you LISTEN.
-James 1:19

2) Be INTERESTED in people in their world.
-dont always talk about yourself, what u accomplish/aim to accomplish and dont always talk abt things u like or are interested in!
-get interested in the lives of others.
-phi 2:3-4

3) Make people feel IMPORTANT.
-there's always something you can learn from someone.

4) SMILE when you meet people.
-this is the most basic, most obvious key to a good healthy relationship.
-when u frown u only attract e devil and nobody will want to be with you.

5) ENCOURAGE people.
-encourage = en + courage = to put in courage into people's faith bottle.

6) Be LONGSUFFERING.
-patience is the key.
-when you face a problem, the more you want it to end, the more longer itll last. -> e more u are patient with it, the faster itll end.
-learn to fellowship with other people despite their background, looks, etc.

-dont assume the worst, assume the BEST!
-give people room to make mistakes/fail -> no one is perfect. if they dun fail, they'll nv learn and succeed.
-give them room -> many dont excel because they are afraid to make mistakes / because the people around them have unreasonable expectations.

7) RESPECT people.
-respect their titles, respect all fathers!
-dont be late! -> dont overstay, dont cross, dont overstep the booundaries and become overly familiar.

8) ESTEEM others better than yourself.
-its not about you, its about the person, make him/her feel accepted, valued, appreciated, loved, etc...

9) Use PEOPLE's NAMEs more than usual.
-give people recognition, make them feel they are important or they have done something.

10) Be COMPLIMENTARY of people.
-praise is extravagant -> dont give measured praise!!!
-eph 6:1-3 -> to 'honor' is to give LAVISHLY.
-eph 1:4 -> to 'provoke' is to make unreasonable demands/expectations.

We cannot choose out parents, we cannot choose our siblings, BUT...we can choose our friends!
Friends are not fated, friends are chosen! -> you decide who you wanna be with and who you should keep a distance from!

1 sam 23:16-17,18:4

a) True friends STRENGTHEN your hand in God -> they lead u TO God and not away from Him. They help you to fulfill your purpose in God.

b) True friends create FAITH, not fear -> your circle of friends create the atmosphere of soil for the seed of your life.

c) True friends CELEBRATE each other's victories -> and not tear you down.
e.g. each time u score an A, ur frens go 'walau eh..', etc..

d) True friends EQUIP you for the future -> theyll do whatever they can to make sure you fulfill your purpose with love. Love is benefitting others at the expense of self.
